CAR PREPARATION, BODIES and FRAME
Any 1955-2007 steel bodied American passenger vehicle car, all steel-bodied sedans or coupes.
No jeeps, four wheel drives, convertibles, pick-up trucks, or trans axle type cars will be allowed.
Must be an American V-8, 4 passenger frame with stock upper and lower control arms.
Wheelbase; minimum 101 inches, and must remain stock for frame being used. Stock frame cars only.
No fabricated front or rear clips. No fabricated frames. Frames and clips must match make model and year.
Front and rear clip must match make model and year.
Make model and year not defined by body used on frame but frame and engine type.
No lengthening or shortening of wheel base from stock for frame being used.
Note: It is the driver/owners responsibility to provide proof of Make, Model and OEM equipment used on any vehicle when asked. Failure or inability to provide this information may result in disqualification.
All upholstery must be removed with the exception of the dashboard. Dashboard may be removed, but must have a decorative
piece added in its place. Dashboards must run full width and be metal only.
All steering lock mechanisms must be removed. No tilt steering columns of any type. The ignition on/off switch must be within
drivers reach when belted into their seat and clearly marked and visible from outside the car. A master on/off battery switch
must be located on roll bar directly behind drivers seat accessible from the outside.
Must have stock or fabricated front firewall, (full length from side to side), Firewall must be in stock location on frame.
Must have stock floor pan from firewall to rear seat floor. May remove sections of passenger side floor for exhaust etc. but
must retain complete center hump section.
Rear Firewall made of .035 minimum sheet metal from side to side mandatory.
Trunk floor may be removed.
BODY
Can run any metal body (steel) on any American passenger frame car with a wheelbase of at least 101 inches.
Examples would be Chevelle body on a Camaro frame, or Mustang body on a Monte Carlo frame and so on.
Fiberglass front ends allowed. After market and homemade front air dams and nose pieces allowed.
Air dams and side skirts must have a minimum ground clearance of 3".
Use of after-market nose or homemade nose (in front of fenders) allowed.
No wedge noses.
A windshield is Mandatory (no screens). Windshield can be safety glass, 1/8" minimum Lexan or equivalent material.
No Plexiglas.
All cars must have two (2) vertical braces of ˝" solid bar or equivalent (tubing, 1" flat bar, ˝" square solid, etc. Subject to
tech), at the approximate centerline of car, to be attached to top and bottom of windshield opening on the inside of the windshield.
Lexan rear and side wing windows may be installed. No Plexiglas allowed.
All cars will have a mandatory 10 inch rear spoiler measured from the deck lid.
Spoilers must be made of 1/8" clear Lexan or factory stock with addition of Lexan material.
Top 5 inches of spoiler must be clear 1/8” Lexan.
The spoiler shall not exceed 10 inch height from the deck lid.
Spoilers must be solid spool and non-adjustable.
Rudders, braces, wires and forward mounting brackets permitted.
BATTERY
One 12-volt automotive battery only.
Battery may be relocated.
If moved inside the car, it must be securely mounted in a protective container. (Battery Box)
If inside the driver compartment the battery box will be maximum of 1/4" steel or aluminum, six sided, not exceeding 12" in
height and not significantly larger than the battery. If outside the drivers compartment it must be shielded from the fuel tank. …
Battery can be located no further back than the stock rear fire wall location and cannot protrude through the floor or below

PERSONNAL PROTECTION
It is mandatory for ALL Drivers to wear a helmet carrying a valid, orange SA95 or newer, standard Snell sticker.
NO DOT motorcycle helmets.
NO “M” Snell stickered helmets allowed.
Helmets must accompany the car at time of all inspections.
It is strongly recommended that all Drivers record blood type and RH factor, plus any major medical allergies to
adhesive tape label to outside back of helmet.
If helmet is of foreign manufacture driver must provide proof that helmet meets Snell SA95 standards or better.
Drivers must wear an approved Nomex or Proban driving suit at all times when the car is on the track.
Driver’s suit must have a minimum
SFI rating of SFI 3.2A/5 or be at least two layers of fire resistant
material.
(layers can consist of nomex underwear and single layer suit)
Driving suits must effectively cover
entire body.
It is strongly recommended that the drivers wear, Gloves, shoes, underwear, headgear and socks, made of Nomex or similar
fire resistant material.
WINDOW NET
A nylon window screen meeting SFI specifications and dated no later than 2000 is mandatory.
The window screen must be a rib type, made from 3/4" wide nylon material with a minimum of 1" square opening between the ribs.
The minimum window screen size shall be 22" wide by 16" high.
Must release from top with seat belt type latches, and must be fastened to the roll cage top bar and highest drivers door bar on the cage.
FIRE EXTINGUISHER
All cars must have a fully charged 2 3/4 lb. minimum sized fire extinguisher.
Extinguisher must be mounted in a metal mounting bracket with quick release securely mounted within easy reach of the driver. Must be fully charged with gauge visible.
Recommend on-board fire extinguisher system
Fire extinguisher may not be taped to the roll cage
SEATS AND SEAT BELTS
Only custom manufactured aluminum seats; racing
type are permitted.
Minimum .090 thickness required.
It is recommended that all seats have padded rib protectors and seat leg extensions on both sides.
A padded head rest is mandatory.
Seat must be mounted to the roll cage, not the floor pan. 1/2 inch minimum sized Grade-8 bolts and flat washers must be used.
Seat belts must be no older than 2002.
A quick release 5 point racing seat belt harness no less than three (3) inches wide is mandatory.
Lap, shoulder and crotch belt must be fastened to the roll cage with Grade 8 quality bolts not less than ˝ inch in diameter.
MISC
No antifreeze allowed.
All cars must have two (2) suitable tow hooks added to front and rear of car.
Tow hooks must be painted white.
Left side mirror (round only not to exceed 4"). if used, must be inside the
body line of the car.
Rearview mirror allowed, and if used, must be mounted on the approximate centerline of car.
SUSPENSION

Stock suspension only. Stock tie rods. No mono ball joints.

No heim ends allowed.
No rack and pinion steering unless car came stock with it.
Minimum 5 inch ride height with out driver.
Any steel shock in stock location
$75 CLAIM PER SHOCK RULE IN EFFECT AT ALL RACES.
Claims must be presented to the race director or tech officials prior to the main event.
Only 4 shocks allowed on car; maximum 1 per wheel.
All shocks must be mounted in the stock location for vehicle used.
Stock suspension configuration. (leaf or 4 link)
All suspension mounts must be in the stock location and OEM.
All arms, bars and mounts must be stock OEM.
No pan hard bar unless car came stock with it.
No fabricated or after market non OEM types permitted.
Leaf spring cars may use sliders
Metric cars may move rear upper trailing arms 3 inches in any direction, horizontally on frame only, per side from original location.
Generation 3 camaros/firebirds and similar vehicles
must retain the factory strut/shock tower and rear section of the inner
fender in the original factory location. The inner fender must be attached
to the fire wall in the original location. Towers may not be leaned, angled
or moved in any direction. All original factory mounting points must be
maintained. The top center portion of the tower inside of the factory (3)
mounting points may be removed. Adjustable plates may be used as long as
plates are mounted on tower at original factory mounting points.
SPRINGS
Minimum 5 inch springs.
No Weight Jacks.
Coilovers permitted only when car came stock with them
Cars which may have any type of factory adjustable suspensions must be set and sealed prior to Qualifying.
Driver is responsible to bring vehicle to tech to
be sealed.
WEIGHT
All cars must weigh 3,100 lbs with driver.
No more than 55% left side weight.
All cars may be scaled before time-ins and randomly cars may be teched after Main Event at tech official discretion.
Ballast weight must be securely attached to mainframe or major cross member structure with minimum 3/8 bolts.
It is strongly recommended that major ballast weights be contained inside the frame rails; must be painted white and display car number. Must be block in form of no less than five pounds. No ballast/weight shifting devices allowed.
ROLL CAGE
Must have full NASCAR TYPE roll cage.
Metric cars may run cage to a 2X2 rail inside of right frame rail.
Maximum of 2x2 or 2x3 tubing can be used to tie together sub frames or offset a full frame car.
If tubing is used to increase structural stability it may be added to the factory material but may not replace it.
TIRES AND WHEELS
Tires will be 8-inch NU-TREAD slicks
or 8-inch treaded.
Current production Yellow Dot tires only.
Tire softener allowed.
No traction control devices of any kind allowed; EXCEPT FOR TIRE SOFTENER.
8-inch steel racing wheels only.
Wheel studs must be 5/8 minimum.
BRAKES
All cars must have operational brakes on all four (4) wheel positions.
All brakes must be OEM components.
After market brake pads allowed.
After market proportioning valves allowed.
Brake proportioning valves allowed inside the cockpit of the car.
Aftermarket brake pedal and master cylinders allowed. If using dual master cylinders you must disconnect the adjusting rod.
Must remove brake bias adjuster.
Rear disc brakes allowed. Rear disc brake components will be steel with a cast iron OEM caliper.
Air ducting to cool brakes allowed.
ENGINE and ENGINE LOCATION
Engine may be moved back to the #1 spark plug;
even with lower ball joint.
Must be stock OEM cast iron block.
CYLINDER HEADS
Heads must be straight plug with no porting or polishing.
Legal heads are as follows:
Chevrolet: World Products SR, Vortec and any stock OEM cast iron replacement head.
Ford: Windsor Jr, GT 40-P or E-351 and any stock OEM cast iron replacement head.
Mopar: Part #s P4529269, P4876179, P4876180, P5249459, P5249574 and any stock OEM cast iron replacement head.
No other heads permitted.
The new gm performance vortec bow-tie is not
legal either or casting #'s 25534351C and 25534371C
VALVE LIFTERS
Hydraulic or solid steel lifters are permitted and must be OEM for make.
Lifters must be the same size and configuration as OEM.
No mushroom type or roller lifters permitted.
ROCKER ARMS
Roller rockers permitted.
PISTONS
Any.
INTAKE
Any.
CARBURETOR
Maximum (1) 4 barrel carburetor. Pro Form Center Section is legal and
recommended. No racing carburetors. (Predator,
Barry Grants, Demons etc.)
No fuel injection of any kind.
No electric fuel pumps.
REAR END
Ford 9 inch rear ends permitted in all makes.
No cambered rear ends allowed
Right rear axle must be aftermarket of 1541L alloy or better.
Floaters allowed. Locked rear ends allowed. Spools or welded gears only.
No limited slip or posi-type rear ends allowed.
No GM lockers, Detroit lockers, Goldtracks allowed.
EXHAUST
Car must have securely fastened working muffler with exhaust exiting behind the driver.
Maximum sound level is 95 decibels at 100 Feet.
Headers permitted. No stainless steel or custom made headers.
Must be conventional style 1 5/8" Maximum single stage headers.
No 180 degree headers or crossovers.
OIL COOLERS
Oil coolers and accumulators permitted, but must not be mounted in the driver’s compartment.
TRANSMISSIONS
Transmissions will be stock, unaltered
OEM. No after market transmissions or parts. Transmissions must be bolted
directly to
engine or bell housing without alteration. Reverse gear must be in working order.
Triple disc clutches and direct drive powerglides permitted.
No Jerico, Brin or Bert or made for racing transmissions.
No quick-change transmissions.
Must have steel scatter shield or reinforced belting of 3/8” minimum thickness material.
Entire transmission hump, to the end of the transmission, must be covered if belt material is used.
Belt material if used
must be mounted between the transmission and the
floor pan and securely fastened.
DRIVELINE
Only a one piece steel drive shaft permitted and must be painted white.
Drive shaft must be surrounded by either (2) 360 degree solid steel straps no less that 2" x .125 or chain 1/4" thick or cable
1/4" thick and be placed not more than 12" from each universal joint and fastened to the floor or cross member.
FUEL CELL
A) FUEL CELL:
Use of a commercially manufactured fuel cell is MANDATORY.
The maximum capacity, including filler spout and overflow vent check valves is 22 gallons.
Filler spout and overflow check valves are required.
No materials other than standard foam supplied by the fuel cell manufacturer is permitted to make the fuel cell meet the 22-gallon capacity.
Minimum ground clearance of the bottom of the fuel cell is 10 inches.
Metal fuel cell container is required.
The fuel cell must be enclosed in a container of not less than 22 gauge steel and will cover all sides, top and bottom.
Fuel cell and fuel cell container must be fastened to the frame in a recessed frame support as far forward in the trunk area and at an equal distance between the frame rails.
Fuel cell and the fuel cell container must be secured with 1”x1” x .065 steel tubing. Not less than two (2) lengthwise, and two (2) crosswise, and two (2) across the top, evenly spaced at the top and must bolt to container support frame. The support frame must have two (2) tubes that are welded to and extend between the left and right frame rails. Three (3) tubes must be evenly spaced across the recessed well (front to rear). These tubes must be welded to the cross support tubes and extend down the front side, rear side, and under the fuel cell container. If the fuel cell container has a bolt-on top, it must be bolted together with a minimum of 1/4” diameter bolts spaced a maximum of 4” apart. If the fuel cell container has a bolt in end panel, it must be fastened together with a minimum 10/32” diameter screws with nuts spaced a maximum of 4” apart. No sheet metal screws or pop rivets are to be used to secure to top or end panel of a fuel cell.
A protective bar, minimum 1 3/4" x .090 must extend below the rear frame section behind the fuel cell. This protective bar must be as wide at the rear frame rails and extend as low as the bottom of the cell with two (2) vertical uprights evenly spaced between the frame rails and attached to the rear cross member. Two (2) support bars; one (1) located on each corner must angle upwards and be welded to the rear frame rails.
A reinforcement plate, of not less than 14 gauge (0.078) inch thick magnetic flat steel, must be installed behind and under the fuel cell container. The plate must extend the entire width, length and height of the fuel cell container. The plate must be welded in the spaces between the rear cross member and/or the cross bracing at the rear of the rear sub frame. It must be welded with a 1” weld, spaced a maximum of 4” apart.
This is in addition to the 22 ga. container and not in place of it.
All fuel lines must be under the car or encased
in metal pipe or conduit with no connections through the drivers
compartment.
FUEL
Gasoline only.
Pump gas, Trick, ERC, and AVGAS, etc. allowed.
No methanol or exotic fuels of any kind.
GENERAL RULES
1. Race Director will be the sole
authority in the pits with regards to the running of the races. The Starter/Flagger
will be in charge of on-track competition. The Race Director will handle all
protests. Protest period will be open for 15 minutes after the finish is
posted. Protests, complaints etc. are
NOT
to be made to the employees of the racetrack.
Protests must be in writing indicating car number,
item under protest, and name or individual filing protest. Each protest will
be accompanied by $100.00 cash and presented to Race Director for
consideration.
2. NWOSS Series officials will establish the race event procedures; starting
positions, length, frequency and administration of all events and programs.
When their decision is rendered, that decision will be final and binding.
3. When asked to remove a part or tear down for
tech inspection and you refuse; you are subject to a fine, disqualification
and/or suspension and loss of points.
4. Any driver stopping on or off the track to argue with an official, in
regards to an official’s decision, will be automatically disqualified from
the event and subject to suspension or fines.
4A. Drivers are responsible for crew members
actions. Driver and crew members will be subject to fines or suspensions and
the driver disqualified for violation of rules by crew members.
5. Any driver involved in a serious accident will not enter or re-enter a
race until approval to do so is given by officials and medical attendants.
6. Driver’s meeting is mandatory. Driver must attend. If driver does not
attend meeting he will start his race in the rear of the field.
7. Permission must be obtained from the starter and race director before any
practice or safety laps are taken, other than the designated practice time.
All cars must pass pre race tech before they can practice. No exceptions.
8. Any unauthorized persons entering onto the racing surface during race
conditions will result in a disqualification, penalty, fine or suspension,
to the person and affiliated driver. This includes red flag conditions.
9. Any competitor or crew member, which has a pit band partakes of any
alcoholic beverage, stimulating, depressing, or tranquilizing drugs or is
otherwise under the influence before the day's racing events are completed
will result in disqualification, fine and suspension.
10. Any competitor or crew member that participates in a fight or creates a
hostile environment in another competitor’s pits or on the racetrack or on
the premises will result in a fine, suspension, and/or loss of points and
positions in the event.
11. Any competing car, whose speed has been reduced to the point where it
could cause a safety problem, may be removed from the racing surface at the
option of the flagman.
12. Any driver or crew that does not take their car to the line-up grid,
when requested to do so by the officials, may be required to start at the
back of the line-up for that event.
13. If a car is dead on the track, when racing is in progress, the driver
must stay in the car with seat belts fastened until the race is stopped,
except in case of a fire or rollover. Failure to comply may result in a
penalty, disqualification and/or suspension.
14. Drivers are not allowed radios or headsets in
their cars or pits during scheduled events.
Radios may be used for practice sessions only.
Voice contact is not allowed between a driver and a crew member or spotter
at any time other than practice.
Violation will result in immediate disqualification and or fine.
15. No speeding in the pits. You must use caution while driving in the pit
area or you will be subject to a fine or suspension. No donuts, burnouts,
etc.
16. YELLOW FLAG: When a yellow flag or yellow lights comes on, you may not
pass. Failure to do so will result in being put to the back of the field. If
you are unsure what position you are in pull up beside the driver in
question and wait for the officials to direct you to your proper restart
position. Any cars involved in bringing out a yellow flag will go to the
rear of the field.
17. RED FLAG: Cars must come to a complete, safe stop. Drivers are not
allowed to move their car off the track on a red flag. Drivers may exit the
track, only by permission of an official or when the track goes to a yellow
condition. No working on cars under red flag. Failure to abide by this rule
will result in a lap penalty.
18. On any start or re-start, you will always receive the green. If the
official does not like the start, he will then throw the yellow, and
re-start the race. Drivers on the front row of any race, get two chances on
the original start. If two starts are waved off, they go to the back of the
field. On the original start you cannot pass until the start-finish line. On
any restart you can pass on the outside ONLY, (before the start/finish
line), when the green flag is thrown. If you jump the start you will go to
the back of the field.
19. On any start of a race, if a car drops out, the line will move up.
20. Drivers are to notify pit stewards or the race director, immediately of
any changes in the starting grid. Example: car broke, want to start in the
back.
21. No on board computer, record keeping devices
or wiring permitted.
22. A rookie is a driver or team that has competed in three or less NWOSS
events in one season.
23. Points go to the car number. No changing numbers once a car has entered
the pit area.
Multiple, (team), drivers may be used but each
driver will be required to purchase a membership for every car they plan to
drive. If driver has not paid a membership fee for the car he drives then no
points will be awarded. Drivers must purchase membership prior to day of
event or no points will be counted.
Driver who qualifys the car must drive the main event. If the qualifying
driver is unable to drive the main event, only those points accumulated up
to tht point will be counted.
24. Fire extinguishers
MANDATORY
in pit area. All entrants should have in their pits at all times a fully
charged 15 lb. capacity dry powder fire extinguisher or its equivalence,
showing current inspection certificate.
